Congratulations on seeking help! Searching for a therapist is the first, and one of the bravest steps you can take. I am a Pre-Licensed Clinician here at Authentically You Counseling. I have previously worked at community mental health centers and I am currently researching dating anxiety, intimacy and self esteem. Trying to navigate through life stressors, mental health, self-doubt and substance use can be extremely difficult to do alone; and you don't have to. I am hopeful in assisting you with any struggles you are currently undertaking. I use a wide variety of interventions, techniques, and theories in my practice but am directed primarily by Gestalt’s theories.

 

I believe there is a very close link between mind, body, and emotion. Understanding how our emotions and experiences have the ability to alter the way we feel, and vice versa, is crucial to improved mental health. Some interventions or coping skills I like to employ involve mindfulness, perspective shifting, and the introduction of various coping strategies catered to your experience. I really enjoy working with teenagers and young adults, and have been doing so for some time now.

A person's mindset is the epitome of who they are! With that said, finding your true self can be difficult when your inner thoughts or external environment have not facilitated a positive mindset. I work with clients who may have a hard time with control, adapting to life changes, decision-making and/or navigating time management skills. These individuals want to identify different ways that they can calm their nervous system and learn to manage their stress, anxiety or depressive thoughts. The goal is to be able to utilize the skills discussed in session and be able to independently make adjustments in daily living.

The therapeutic approach is tailored specifically to the client and their needs. Some individuals may benefit from mindfulness practices in order to remain present during times of stress while others may need help working on perception or analyzing the circle of control.
